About the Author: Malio Cardarelli

Malio Cardarelli align=Born in Utica, New York in 1935, Malio J. Cardarelli was educated in the Utica Public School system--at Bleecker Street School, Conkling School, and finally at Thomas R. Proctor High School. His higher education was at Utica College of Syracuse University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Relations in 1958. After a series of writing positions in advertising and public relations, Cardarelli settled into a career at Griffiss Air Force Base where he was head of the Civilian Personnel Management function from which he retired in 1995 after 33 years of service. Thereafter, he immediately revisited his postponed journalistic passion by researching and writing chronicles on several different aspects of the rich history of the Mohawk Valley, especially Utica. His topics are varied, covering a wide range of subjects, people and events. In addition to his books, Cardarelli contributes local-history articles for the Utica Observer-Dispatch. His primary goals are not only to inform and entertain but to chronicle those local people and events he believes worthy of preservation.
